I loved that black on black Dodge Challenger I once owned. But, I had to ditch it because of all of the attachments and bad Ju-Ju that I knew would haunt me if I kept that beast! And so I let that shit go. I mention this because of a profound discovery that struck me like a brick in the head.
Prior to ever owning or driving that Challenger, I never even knew that car existed. Well, I knew that Dodge was the maker of the challenger but it never really entered my mind to notice that car or pay attention to it.
That is, until I owned and drove it myself. Ever since then, I notice a Dodge Challenger every time I see one now. Especially a black challenger without any other colors or chrome. So much for trying to forget that shit.
The mentality of your mind and consciousness
I believe that understanding the mind and how it works is crucial to anyone’s journey to success.
Mentality involves the subconscious readiness to behave or anticipate behaviors. While there are stereotyped characters or personalities, I won’t delve into those because success isn’t limited to a specific mold. Anyone can achieve success by adopting the right behaviors and attitude.
Yes, that’s right—anyone!
Throughout each day, my mind is bombarded with stimuli through my senses. I call it sensory overload. My feeble conscious mind can only absorb so much, leaving the subconscious to filter the rest. This means what I perceive as less urgent or unimportant gets stored or discarded by my subconscious.
Awareness suddenly appearing
I’ve realized the importance of making a mental shift and creating an awareness that might have been overlooked or ignored. Have you ever experienced something similar?
Take my Dodge Challenger for example. Suddenly I notice that car everywhere on the roads. It was always there, but it’s now in my conscious mind. This concept involves shifting a goal from the subconscious to the conscious mind. All of that happened without me being conscious of it all happening. It was a strange yet subtle shift.
So, here’s the shift: I move a significant goal into both parts of my mind—the conscious and subconscious.
If you set a definitive, vital long-term goal and write it down in your journal or on any piece of paper it becomes transferrable. I want this goal to be ingrained in my consciousness, whether I’m awake or asleep. Another method to reinforce this awareness is to read the goal aloud regularly. Some suggest altering your surroundings or creating a visual representation of your goals in the form of a book or a vision board on a wall. By doing this, we allow our goals to embed themselves into our subconscious.
The consciousness shift that will transform your life
Once you become conscious of your goals, every decision and thought you have will lead you toward those goals. You will consciously make decisions to reach the goal, but the ultimate aim is to continually make subconscious decisions aligned with it.
Final Thoughts
The power of the subconscious mind is undeniable. Once something is imprinted into the subconscious, you will feel practically unstoppable!
